Canadian legal status of tobacco:

Tobacco act was introduced in 1997 in Canada to control the usage of tobacco :

  • to protect young people and others from the use of tobacco and being dependent on it

  • To protect the health of individuals by restricting access to tobacco products

  • To increase awareness of tobacco hazards and consequences on health.
